Chapter 1: The Fateful Encounter (Continued)
Minjae's hands trembled as she watched the seven members of BTS make their way to the counter. They moved with an easy grace, their presence commanding attention even as they tried to blend in. Her eyes immediately sought out Taehyung, and when their gazes met, she saw a flicker of recognition in his warm brown eyes."Welcome to Melody Café," Soo-yeon chirped, seemingly oblivious to the identity of their famous customers. "What can I get for you today?"Namjoon, the group's leader, stepped forward with a polite smile. "Seven Americanos, please. To go."As Soo-yeon busied herself with taking their order, Minjae found herself frozen in place, her heart pounding so loudly she was sure everyone in the café could hear it. Taehyung's eyes hadn't left her face, and she felt a blush creeping up her cheeks under his scrutiny."Minjae," Soo-yeon called, snapping her out of her daze. "Can you start on those Americanos?""R-right," Minjae stammered, forcing herself into action. As she prepared the drinks, she could feel Taehyung's gaze following her movements. The other members were engaged in quiet conversation, their voices a low murmur that blended with the ambient noise of the café.When the drinks were ready, Minjae carefully placed them in a carrier and brought them to the counter. Her hands shook slightly as she set them down, and she silently prayed she wouldn't do something embarrassing like spill them all over the world's biggest boy band."Thank you," Namjoon said with a warm smile as he reached for the carrier."Wait," Taehyung's deep voice cut in. "I'll take them." He stepped forward, his eyes never leaving Minjae's face. As he took the carrier from her, their fingers brushed, sending that same electric jolt through her body that she had felt the day before."Thank you," Taehyung said softly, his voice pitched low enough that only she could hear. "It's nice to see you again."Minjae's eyes widened in surprise. He remembered her? Before she could formulate a response, the group was already heading towards the door. Just before they left, Taehyung turned back, his eyes meeting hers one last time. He winked, and then they were gone, leaving Minjae standing frozen behind the counter."Earth to Minjae!" Soo-yeon's voice broke through her daze. "What's going on with you? You look like you've seen a ghost."Minjae shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. "Nothing," she lied. "Just... nothing."But as she returned to work, her mind was racing. Twice now, she had encountered Kim Taehyung. Was it mere coincidence, or was fate trying to tell her something? The rest of her shift passed in a blur, with Minjae going through the motions of serving customers and cleaning tables while her mind replayed every second of BTS's visit. By the time she hung up her apron and said goodbye to Soo-yeon, she felt like she was walking in a dream. The night air was cool on her flushed cheeks as she stepped out of the café. Minjae took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She had just turned to head home when a voice called out from the shadows."Excuse me."Minjae froze, her heart leaping into her throat. She knew that voice. Slowly, she turned to see Taehyung stepping out from beside the café, his cap pulled low over his eyes."I'm sorry if I startled you," he said, a hint of sheepishness in his voice. "I was hoping we could talk."For a moment, Minjae couldn't find her voice. Was this really happening? "O-okay," she managed to stammer out.Taehyung smiled, the warmth of it reaching his eyes. "There's a park nearby. Would you like to take a walk with me?"Minjae nodded, not trusting herself to speak. As they fell into step beside each other, she couldn't help but marvel at the surreality of the situation. Here she was, walking through the streets of Seoul with Kim Taehyung, one-seventh of the biggest boy band in the world. They walked in comfortable silence for a few minutes before Taehyung spoke again. "I wanted to apologize for yesterday," he said. "For bumping into you and then just disappearing like that. I was in a hurry, and... well, I'm not always sure how to handle unexpected encounters."Minjae felt a rush of empathy for him. It must be difficult, she realized, to navigate the world when you're constantly recognized and scrutinized. "It's okay," she said softly. "I understand."Taehyung turned to look at her, curiosity evident in his gaze. "You're a songwriter, aren't you?" he asked. "I noticed the notebook you were carrying yesterday. It looked like it was full of lyrics."Minjae felt a blush creeping up her cheeks. "I'm trying to be," she admitted. "It's not easy, though. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just chasing an impossible dream."Taehyung's expression softened. "Dreams aren't impossible," he said gently. "They just take time and hard work to achieve. Trust me, I know."They had reached the park, a small oasis of green amidst the urban landscape. Taehyung led them to a secluded bench, partially hidden by a cluster of trees. As they sat down, Minjae felt a mix of nervousness and excitement bubbling up inside her."Would you..." Taehyung hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Would you let me see some of your lyrics? If you're comfortable with that, of course."Minjae's eyes widened in surprise. "You want to see my lyrics?"Taehyung nodded, a gentle smile playing at his lips. "Music is universal," he said. "It connects people in ways nothing else can. I'd love to see what kind of stories you're trying to tell through your songs."With trembling hands, Minjae reached into her bag and pulled out her notebook. She flipped it open to her most recent composition, the one inspired by their encounter. "It's not finished," she said hesitantly. "And it's probably not very good..."Taehyung took the notebook from her, his eyes scanning the page. As he read, his expression changed, a look of wonder spreading across his face. "Minjae," he said softly, "this is beautiful."Minjae felt her heart skip a beat at his words. "Really?"Taehyung nodded enthusiastically. "The imagery, the emotion... it's all there. You have a real talent for this."As they sat there in the quiet park, the world seemed to fade away. Taehyung asked Minjae about her inspirations, her process, her dreams. In turn, he shared stories about his own journey as an artist, the challenges he'd faced, and the moments of pure joy that made it all worthwhile.Hours passed like minutes, and before they knew it, the first light of dawn was beginning to paint the sky. Taehyung glanced at his watch, his eyes widening in surprise. "I can't believe how late it is," he said. "I'm sorry, I've kept you out all night."Minjae shook her head, a soft smile on her face. "Don't apologize. This has been... incredible."As they stood to leave, Taehyung reached out and took Minjae's hand. The touch sent a shiver down her spine. "Minjae," he said, his voice serious. "I'd like to see you again. Would that be okay?"Minjae felt like her heart might burst from happiness. "Yes," she said softly. "I'd like that very much."Taehyung's face broke into a radiant smile. He pulled out his phone, quickly entering Minjae's number. "I'll text you," he promised. "We'll figure something out."As they parted ways, Minjae felt like she was floating on air. The sun was rising over Seoul, casting a golden glow over the city, and everything seemed full of possibility.Little did she know that this magical night was just the beginning. Her encounter with Taehyung had set in motion a series of events that would challenge her, inspire her, and ultimately change the course of her life forever. As she made her way home, the melody of a new song already forming in her mind, Minjae couldn't help but feel that she was on the brink of something extraordinary. The symphony of their lives was just beginning, and the music they would make together would resonate far beyond the streets of Seoul, touching hearts around the world. To be continued...
